In this presentation award-winning hairdresser, Gemma Kellec, sought guidance from her business mentor, Ron Willems, as she embarked on establishing her own salon. Impressed by Gemma’s meticulous planning regarding client base, future staffing and profitability, Ron recognised her potential for success. Gemma shared her vision of a unique “Cottage Salon” with Ron, and together they pursued a grant to turn her dream into a reality, which would mark the beginning of an exciting entrepreneurial journey.

 

About the Presenters:

Gemma Kellec, Award-winning Hairdresser - Mentee

Gemma is an award-winning hairdresser with 16 years of experience in the industry. Over this time, Gemma has earned over 28 placings in the New Zealand Awards for haircuts and colours. 

Her passion for hair and quality of work has proven 10 fold with a full clientele and high demand calendar bookings.

Gemma worked in a London Mayfair salon for 3 years, learning from the best in the hair extensions industry to refine her craft in applying extensions correctly and flawlessly. 

To top it all off, Gemma has been a private hairdresser on super yachts, serving some of the most highly valued clients in the world. With her experience and knowledge, you will leave the Hairbrushgem salon feeling confident, special and looking fabulous. 

 

Ron Willems - Mentor

Ron Willems, a seasoned professional with over 35 years of experience in sales, sales management, and general management roles.

He has worked with reputable companies like Polaroid NZ Ltd, L’eggs Pantyhose, and Cadbury Schweppes before specialising in finance, banking, and investment management.   He then set up his own Investment Advisory Company.

Ron is known for his motivational skills, innovative training techniques, and expertise in investment.  Now he is dedicated to helping new business owners achieve their goals.
